There are times you’ll need to add extra food or snacks to your base meal plan. Sometimes “life happens” and you’ll indulge in a little extra. However, if fat loss is your goal, be mindful of excesses. In other cases your body may be telling you it needs some more fuel. This can be for a variety of reasons such as increased workout volume, longer waking hours in a day or other reasons. Listen to your body.
MetPro provides a way to log (and calculate) extra macro’s that don’t fall under the junk food category. It will also give you some snack recommendations for common scenarios such as needing extra fuel for “appetite control,” “more energy,” or for “post workout” recovery. But even if it’s just an extra few bites of chicken or potatoes, the extra food screen is a way to let MetPro know and include in it’s calculations.
How Does MetPro Calculate Extra Food I Eat (that’s not junk food)?
The algorithm (how MetPro calculates new recommendations) is influenced by many factors, but the largest is your selected GOAL. Adding certain foods impact your progress bar more then others, but it’s always based on your selected goal. For example, extra carbs and proteins, will impact your progress bar more noticeably when you’ve selected “Fat Loss” vs “Build Muscle” as your goal.
What Else Impacts How MetPro Calculates Extra Food I Eat?
Your diet cycle and meal plan. Generally you’ll be eating more food during Metabolic Revving cycles and your meal phase (meal plan food quantities) will be higher. The higher your meal phase, the lower impact a small food addition makes. MetPro recognizes this and calculates accordingly. On Fat Burning cycles or when you’re on a lower meal phase (less food), you’ll likely be more sensitive to abrupt increases in food. MetPro takes this into consideration as well.
Do I Log Macro’s In The Extra Food Screen Every Time I Eat Something Other Than My Assigned Meals?
No. The Extra Food Screen is for times you: A) Ate on plan but added an extra snack between meals. B) Ate on plan but added an extra serving of something.
When wouldn’t I log extra food?
Anytime you simply have an “off MetPro” meal. Even if the meal wasn’t junk food, if the macro’s or food selections don’t line up closely with your assigned meal, leave it “unchecked” on the main screen. MetPro knows this means you’ve either missed that meal or eaten something else. If the meal included junk food or alcohol, you’d leave it “unchecked” and also add to the “junk food & alcohol” screen.
Note: It’s a good idea to pack and carry a few extra “healthy” snacks on you at all times. You never know when you’ll need them.
