When trying to decide what to order from a restaurant menu, these tips can help:
Review the full menu, ideally before you get to the restaurant. Identify the leanest protein options and what sides are offered with different meals in addition to the actual “sides” section. Keep it simple, order A La Carte when you can, or order an entrée that comes with protein, veggie and carb. Ask if you can swap sides from another dish, if something else looks better.
There’s already added cooking fat, so hold the sauce, cheese, guac, etc. to minimize excess calories. Double up on veggies. And pack your own carb - skip the pasta or rice dish and enjoy a piece of fruit after the meal instead.
