Fat Burning:
As you log data, MetPro will adjust your diet cycle based on your metabolism. If you choose fat loss as your starting goal you’ll begin on a down-adjust cycle and see “fat-burning” highlighted in the metabolism screen. MetPro tracks your metabolic behavior at each intake level to determine if fat loss is probable on your current meal plan. Your capacity for fat loss during a given cycle is not just determined by your current weight loss pace. It’s also determined by how much leverage remains available to you before there’s nothing else to change.
For example, two people are both losing at a pace of 2 pounds per week. One person is on Phase 4 while the other is on Phase 7. Both individuals in this example are losing weight but based on their analytics, the person losing weight on Phase 7 has several more down-adjustments ahead of them that can still be made. The person on Phase 4 has fewer. MetPro analyzes this when making new recommendations. Your progress as a whole must be considered along with your ability to leverage your workouts into the equation.
Metabolic Revving:
There comes a tipping point when decreasing intake is no longer your optimal strategy. At this point MetPro will gradually challenge your metabolism to rev up for a short time. During this time the strategy becomes focused around speeding up your metabolic rating. This is done by gradually reintroducing carbs and calories in step with increased physical activity. You can view gradual daily changes to your metabolic rating in the Metabolism screen. The same adaptive process that causes you to hit plateaus (homeostasis), works in your favor instead of against you this time. As you eat more (calculated increases), your metabolism actually responds by revving up.
Up-Adjust Pace:
Have you ever heard that you need to eat more to lose weight? Well, if you’ve ever tried it, you probably found out the hard way it’s not as simple as that. The concept is sound --eat more and your body gets used to more food and your metabolic rate rises. The problem is calculating just the right amount to increase that will trigger an uptick in your metabolism without corresponding fat storage is hard. Finding the correct rate of increase is the tricky part. This is where MetPro shines. By tracking your response, it’s able to calculate the best up-adjust rate during your metabolic revving cycle. A well-executed metabolic revving cycle can completely reset your metabolism, but it takes some effort!
Note: Some people will experience a slight uptick in weight associated with muscle rehydration at the beginning of their metabolic revving cycle. This is not unusual and should stabilize.
Adjusting Cycles:
Once your weight stabilizes eating on a higher Phase, you can return to a down-adjust (fat burning cycle) with a boosted metabolic rate. This makes the metabolic revving phase particularly worthy of your efforts. Use the extra food to fuel your workouts, and stay consistent with your meal prep to get the most out of your metabolic revving cycles.
